【摘要】:Thismethodcomparestheperformanceofgranularorpelletizedactivatedcarbonsusedinodorcontrolapplications,suchassewagetreatmentplants,pumpstations,etc.Themethoddeterminestherelativebreakthroughperformanceofactivatedcarbonforremovinghydrogensulfidefromahumidifiedgasstream.OtherorganiccontaminantspresentinfieldoperationsmayaffecttheH2Sbreakthroughcapacityofthecarbon;thesearenotaddressedbythistest.Thistestdoesnotsimulateactualconditionsencounteredinanodorcontrolapplication,andisthereforemeantonlytocomparethehydrogensulfidebreakthroughcapacitiesofdifferentcarbonsundertheconditionsofthelaboratorytest.Thistestdoesnotduplicateconditionsthatanadsorberwouldencounterinpracticalservice.Themasstransferzoneinthe23cmcolumnusedinthistestisproportionallymuchlargerthanthatinthetypicalbedusedinindustrialapplications.ThisdifferencefavorsacarbonthatfunctionsmorerapidlyforremovalofH2Soveracarbonwithslowerkinetics.Also,the1%H2Schallengegasconcentrationusedhereengendersasignificanttemperatureriseinthecarbonbed.Thiseffectmayalsodifferentiatebetweencarbonsinawaythatisnotreflectedintheconditionsofpracticalservice.Thisstandardaswrittenisapplicableonlytogranularandpelletizedactivatedcarbonswithmeanparticlediameterslessthan2.5mm.Applicationofthisstandardtoactivatedcarbonswithmeanparticlediameters(MPD)greaterthan2.5mmwillrequirealargerdiameteradsorptioncolumn.TheratioofcolumninsidediametertoMPDshouldbegreaterthan10inordertoavoidwalleffects.Inthesecasesitissuggestedthatbedsuperficialvelocityandcontacttimebeheldinvariantattheconditionsspecifiedinthisstandard(4.77cm/secand4.8sec).Althoughnotcoveredbythisstandard,dataobtainedfromthesetestsmaybereportedasinparagraph12alongwithadditionalinformationaboutcolumndiameter,volumeofcarbon,andvolumetricflowrateused.Forpelletizedcarbons,itisfeltthattheequivalentsphericaldiameterofthepelletisthemostsuitableparameterfordeterminingtheappropriateadsorptioncolumninsidediameter.Theequivalentsphericaldiameteriscalculatedaccordingtothefollowingequation.where:d
